Presentation at University of Alcala
On July 15, the Engineering School (EPS) at the University of Alcalá (UAH) organized the workshop “Teaching Methodologies Applied to Engineering.” Among the various experiences presented by faculty members, the GEMS project was introduced, and a survey was conducted among the 21 participants. The attendees were involved in a wide range of subjects, including Programming Methodology, Circuit Electronics, Digital Communications, Communication Networks, Electrical Circuits, Graphic Expression, Electronic Control, Analog and Digital Electronics, Electronic Instrumentation, Linear Algebra, Communication Theory, and Fundamentals of Computer Technology.
Overall, teachers’ perceptions of the GEMS project developments—both the hardware and the MOOC content—were very positive. However, participants identified certain components as being more directly applicable to their day-to-day teaching activities. In particular, hands-on work using pre-assembled hardware was considered more useful than activities focused on hardware design and manufacturing.
